About This Project
The Rocket Theatre is used by the London Metropolitan University both for lectures and events.
Concerns were raised about the integrity of the early 20th Century barrel vault fibrous plaster ceiling and Stevensons were invited to undertake a survey and submit a report.
Following a number of site visits Stevensons identified that some of the fibrous plaster sections needed replacement, some needed repair and others needed additional fixings to secure them to the structure above. The report included drawings marked up to indicate location and type of each remedial action.
Having submitted a budget Stevensons were invited to undertake all the repair and replacement items in their report. Following completion of the repairs Stevensons, in conjunction with the Client’s structural surveyor, provided a certificate for the ceiling in line with ABTT guidelines.
Stevensons were selected for the Rocket Theatre project because of our reputation generally in the field of surveying, reporting and carrying out restoration work and in particular in similar projects to the Rocket Theatre.
Other similar projects where Stevensons have been involved include the Royal Institution of Great Britain Lecture Theatre, the Lyceum Theatre, the Coliseum Theatre, the Birmingham Hippodrome, the Theatre Royal Newcastle and the Athenaeum Lecture Theatre Manchester.
Stevensons regularly undertake surveying, reporting and repair tasks of this sort for buildings both large and small.
