About This Project
In 2002 it was decided to reorganise the Banqueting Suite at the hotel to provide up to 1700 square metres of function room space over three levels under a glass roof which can be opened to the skies if required.
Stevensons were employed to manufacture and install plasterwork in the Art Deco style and in the form of cornices, columns, pilasters, balcony fronts and – in Stevensons-Stone – staircase details to match the balcony fronts.
The Stevensons package required close liaison with the Client, the project team and the Munich based Architect. The considerable volume of decorative plasterwork and Stevensons-Stone elements were manufactured in Norwich and transported by road to Munich. A substantial installation team was able to complete our package on site to the agreed programme and within the time allowed by the summer shut down of the function zones.
The use of Stevensons-Stone on the Grand Staircase was demanded by its ability to cope with the geometry in the same way as the decorative plasterwork but with the added impact resistance and resilience that the material offers.
The Hotel Bayerischer Hof is regarding as one of the leading hotel in the world and has been owned and managed by the same family since 1897.
Our contribution to this prestigious development was successful coordination with overseas project partners, long distance logistics and the management and technical skills exercised on site.
