Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford
Georgian Group Award
The winner of The Georgian Group award for a new building in the classical tradition was the architectural practice of John Simpson and Partners.
The award recognised the merit of the three storey building, brick dressed with stone, L - shaped to form a new quad with other existing buildings with one range arcaded. The building contains undergraduate accommodation, communal facilities and a lecture theatre.
Stevensons of Norwich undertook the specialist plasterwork package throughout. The principle feature was the fibrous plasterwork to the lecture theatre involving a complex stepped dome with enrichments, columns and other details.
We are pleased to see the work of Stevensons of Norwich and of everyone involved in the project acknowledged by The Georgian Group.
